I would like to say a few words about my cataract surgery for my right eye and subsequent follow-up treatment and consultations with Mr Mike Tappin.

The whole experience has been exceptionally positive from my first consultation to my last meeting with Mike Tappin last week.

He is extremely approachable, is empathetic, very thorough, and makes one feel confident in the whole process. He is very professional and explains everything and answers any questions I have.

My cataract surgery outcome (performed September 2022) has been wonderful. Mr Tappin and his great team (I had tests done by Geeta) ensured that the cataract lens surgery outcome was just as I had hoped – to not need glasses for reading anything (even very tiny print!) as I have never needed them for that, while keeping an optimum distance ability without glasses. I have needed glasses for distance since I was 19, so wanted to maintain this balance. So I still only need glasses for driving and TV. However, I also find I can now do close work while watching TV without glasses, which I haven’t been able to do for many years and I can go around the house and do most things without glasses. I am so pleased with the outcome for my sight.

A couple of months ago I went to see Mr Tappin as I felt the right eye was a bit ‘cloudy’. He investigated and I required a YAG procedure which I had done there and then.
I have had a couple of follow-up appointments where I have been completely reassured that everything with the cataract lens replacement is just fine and an explanation that a slight change in how I find my sight is due to my other eye becoming weaker and its cataract developing. Mr Tappin and his team were very thorough in investigating and explaining the situation to me and I have been totally reassured.

When (if?) I feel that my other eye deteriorates too much and I probably need cataract surgery, I shall be straight back to Mr Tappin. I have complete confidence in his professional work and I know I will get the best result possible, while being treated very professionally and kindly.

I would also like to really say how wonderful Geeta is too – very approachable, thorough, empathetic and very professional. A great team!! Many thanks to you both.

The team under Mr Tappin undertaking the actual cataract surgery in Woking were exceptional too – helped me relax while also giving me complete confidence in the procedure.
